Info: Smith began his career at the School of American
Ballet. While studying ballet, he was discovered and chosen for the role of young Timothy Hutton in the Sidney Lumet film Daniel.
After a starring role in 1984's The Wild Life, he was cast as Wyatt Donnelly in the 1985 teen classic Weird Science by writer/director John Hughes.
Other starring roles followed in the film The Chocolate War and the TV series Superboy, and he also made some guest television appearances, but none of these brought him much success.
He retired from acting in 1991 after a final guest appearance on the TV crime drama Silk Stalkings.
